Another singer/songwriter from Norway. I couldn’t find a video of this song, only audio… “Belly Up” is from her latest album “Cause and Effect.”
Maria info here.
“Power Trip Ballad” is from the same album.
I have to play this every so often and it’s kind of apt for that rousing New Years feeling…
Doop-de-doop!
Ahh, that feels better now. This video is therapy!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
This is too much! Here is an animal Christmas song for you…
Here is “Lonely Heart On Wheels” by A Butterfly Mind…
From Last.fm.com:
A Butterfly Mind are Annelies and Sarah Cappaert, two singing sisters from Belgium. The duo came to the attention of the public when they participated in the Flemish version of X-Factor under their stage name ‘The Cappaert Sisters’. They did not win and for some time nothing was heard of the two. In 2008 they reemerged with a whole new image. From now on they called themselves A Butterfly Mind. The sisters participated in Eurosong 2008 (a competition on Flemish tv in search of the Belgian representative for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest), in which they lost in the semifinals with their song Lonely heart on wheels.
You can find them here. The site is written in Flemish but there are photos and music.
Here is Nellie McKay on the Letterman Show 2 years ago. The song is “The Dog Song” and it’ll put a smile on your cold face.
These videos come by way of Undomestic Diva‘s post. I pretty much stole her whole post. Now THIS is Holiday stuff I can deal with!
How’d they do that?!? I wonder who came up with the idea. I wonder how long it takes to put this all together! What are the power bills like? By the way, Undomestic Diva‘s post is called “Christmas On Crack.” Funny and fitting.
Another musical reprieve from the cold… This is THE catchiest tune! Great for the gym. Madcon is 2 rappers from Norway. I’m not a fan of Rap but I’m not sure this is Rap either–it’s a bit too melodic. Love hearing two black rappers speaking Norwegian… Or, is it two Norwegians speaking black? (Norway is not “homogenous.”) The song is called “Beggin’” and hit the charts in Europe this year in a BIG way (although you wouldn’t know it by looking at the NRK studio audience. Funny.). Madcon guys have such great smiles. When was the last time you saw smiling rapsters??
What a nice idea for a post! Kyle Steed has a nice post with music for a winter’s day on his blog. Perhaps I will try for a list of my own one of these days. That is, when I learn how to do it! For now, I still love Marte Wulff for a grey day. Her album “Jacket” has more pep than “Safety Pins.” The song, The Boat, is from “Jacket.” She is a wonderful singer/songwriter from Kristiansand, Norway. This video of “Last Dance” comes from NRK, the national Norwegian broadcasting company and looks to be shot from Kristiansand…
Find Marte here.
