These are “snow prints” done in Seattle by Aly Lendon and friends. She said they pushed their faces (and other parts) into fresh powder and took photos with a point-and-shoot. No Photoshopping!

On the 19th of November, we had a pretty big first snowfall here in Nova Scotia. To say the Nova Scotian government was unprepared would be to state the reeeeeeally, ridiculously painful, obvious.
Now, it appears, we are situated waaaaaay too close to the States. From the Chronicle Herald: “Halifax lawyer Ray Wagner said Wednesday that his firm, Wagners, is considering launching the lawsuit because of the ‘inconvenience, and personal and financial losses that occurred on the Cobequid Pass….We’re going to see what kinds of claims are out there and what the interest is among those people that have been horribly affected by the huge amount of hours they’ve spent on the highway, not knowing what’s going on,’ he said.”
Well, in case one needed a clear illustration of cheap, money grubbing, opportunistic, ambulance-chasing, Personal Injury Lawyers and, astonishingly, ones who are so unsophisticated they have to actually define their profession in the newspaper, there you are! Here’s more…

…is no better at winter than I am!

This is the incomprehensible traffic jam at the Cobequid Pass 2 days ago, on the 19th. After a transport truck jack-knifed in the middle of eastbound traffic lanes, there were over 1500 vehicles stopped at the top of the pass in Northern NS for 12-14 hours. Drivers and passengers were stuck in their vehicles overnight with no assistance from and no communication with the government, RCMP, or anyone else besides each other. Of course, lots of blame is being bandied about but this is Nova Scotia and it’s November! Snow happens! It was a rough night for many people.

Snowfall On Birdhouse
It wasn’t supposed to but it did and the drive out of the city was miserable for most people. That being said, for me, the drive was a bit exciting–I was handily passing cars at 70 km/h. (My “new” truck is definitely a winter vehicle.) Everything is gorgeous–the trees are heavy with snow and, true to a first snow, all is white. And, true to our yearly ritual, on the first day (or night) of snow, the dogs get fed and are, sans leashes, shown a wide open front door. Doggee glee!! My reasoning is that they can run a whole lot faster than any car (or truck) can move (or not) in the snow. As well, against a whiteout, Toots and Gracie are jet black. They have a blast.
Isn’t this lovely? We’re all the same.

With thanks to Reuters for making my day...
